Euxoa declarata is a noctuid moth commonly known as the clear dart. Adults have a wingspan of 31–37 mm and are active from July to September with one generation per year. The species is notable for its reproductive isolation from closely related species (E. campestris and E. rockburnei), which is maintained primarily through differences in circadian mating rhythms rather than pheromone differences. Males of all three species respond to the same synthetic attractants. The species belongs to the 'declarata group' of Euxoa, a complex of interfertile sibling species that remain reproductively isolated in nature through temporal partitioning of mating activity.

Exapion ulicis is a small seed-feeding weevil specialized on gorse (Ulex europaeus). Adults are light gray with a prominent snout roughly half the body length. The species is native to western Europe and has been introduced to New Zealand, California, Hawaii, and other regions as a biological control agent targeting invasive gorse populations. Larval feeding destroys seeds within pods, reducing plant spread, while adult feeding on stems and spines causes minor damage.

Lohman's ensign-fly
A relatively large and robust sepsid fly described in 2017 from two urban parks in New York City. Originally collected in 2007 and misidentified as Themira biloba, it was recognized as a distinct species through morphological differences (asymmetrical male surstyli), 4.46% COI DNA divergence, and complete post-zygotic reproductive isolation. The species is notable as the first new Themira species described from the Nearctic in 90 years despite occurring in one of the world's most intensively studied urban areas.

Tortopus
Tortopus is a genus of burrowing mayflies in the family Polymitarcyidae, restricted to six species based on cladistic revision: T. igaranus, T. circumfluus, T. harrisi, T. zottai, T. bellus, and T. arenales. The genus is characterized by distinctive morphological synapomorphies including female parastyli receptors with long anterior furrows, entirely flattened penes, and nymphs bearing two subapical tubercles on mandibular tusks. Nymphs construct U-shaped tunnels in clay banks, a behavior that renders them difficult to sample with standard aquatic survey methods.

Vollenhovia is a genus of myrmicine ants distributed primarily in the Australasian and Oriental regions, with notable diversity in India, Sri Lanka, and East Asia. The genus contains species exhibiting remarkable reproductive strategies, including clonal reproduction by males (androgenesis) and queen polymorphism in wing morphology. At least one species, Vollenhovia nipponica, has evolved workerless social parasitism (inquilinism) on congeneric hosts. The species produces two distinct queen morphs: long-winged (L) and short-winged (S) forms, which exhibit genetic differentiation and reproductive isolation. Both male and female sexuals are produced clonally, while workers arise sexually from fertilized eggs—a reversal of the typical Hymenopteran pattern. The long-winged morph shows complete association with Wolbachia infection, while short-winged morphs lack this bacterial endosymbiont.
