Araeopidius monachus
Araeopidius monachus is the sole species in the subfamily Araeopidiinae within the beetle family Ptilodactylidae. It is endemic to western North America, where adults are rarely encountered. The species exhibits an unusual three-year life cycle among beetles, with larvae feeding on woody material while adults appear to be non-feeding. Its biology remains poorly understood due to the scarcity of specimens and limited field observations.

Members are characterized by their brilliant metallic coloration and sculptured bodies. Adults are primarily phytophagous, with many species visiting flowers for nectar and pollen. Larvae are predominantly wood-borers, though some exhibit leaf-mining habits in tropical regions. Several species are significant forestry pests or invasive species.
Clytini
Clytini is a tribe of longhorn beetles (Cerambycidae) within the subfamily Cerambycinae. Members are typically medium-sized (8–16 mm), often with bright coloration and banded elytra. Many species exhibit wasp-mimicry, with rapid, jerky movements and contrasting yellow-black or red-black patterns. The tribe includes ant-mimicking genera such as Cyrtinus, which are among the smallest cerambycids (2–3 mm). Larvae are primarily xylophagous, developing in dead wood of trees and shrubs. Adults are frequently floricolous or attracted to exudates and fermented fruits. The tribe is distributed across North America, Europe, and Asia, with some species showing expanding or declining population trends.

Elacatis is a genus of false tiger beetles in the family Salpingidae, containing approximately 13 described species. The genus was established by Pascoe in 1860. Seven species are recognized in the Nearctic region north of Mexico, including two recently described species: E. larsoni from Nebraska and E. stephani from Arizona. The genus is classified within the subfamily Othniinae.

Northern Spruce Borer
Tetropium parvulum, the northern spruce borer, is a small cerambycid beetle specialized on spruce hosts. It was elevated from synonymy with T. cinnamopterum based on distinct morphological differences in larvae and adults, and exhibits strict host specificity to Picea compared to the conifer generalist T. cinnamopterum. The species has a one-year life cycle and is an economically important borer of white and Engelmann spruce logs in western Canada.
