Acanthoscelides pallidipennis
Acanthoscelides pallidipennis is a leaf beetle in the family Chrysomelidae, specifically within the seed beetle subfamily Bruchinae. Native to North America, it has been introduced to East Asia including Japan, where it was first recorded in 1997–1999. The species is a specialist seed predator of the introduced legume Amorpha fruticosa, achieving extremely high seed predation rates in its introduced range. It is subject to parasitism by Eupelmus wasps.
Airaphilus
Airaphilus is a genus of beetles in the family Silvanidae, subfamily Silvaninae. The genus contains approximately 30 described species distributed across Europe, North Africa, Madagascar, and Japan. At least one species, Airaphilus abei, is flightless (apterous) and has been assessed as potentially endangered due to habitat loss. The genus was first described by Redtenbacher in 1858.
Allonychiurus flavescens
Allonychiurus flavescens is a species of springtail in the family Onychiuridae. It is a small, soil-dwelling hexapod found in Pacific North American and Sino-Japanese regions. As an euedaphic collembolan, it lives deep within soil profiles and lacks a furcula (springing organ) typical of surface-dwelling springtails. The species was described by Kinoshita in 1916.
Ampelomyia
Ampelomyia is a genus of gall midges in the tribe Asphondyliini (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae), erected in 2019 to accommodate species that induce galls on grape plants (Vitis). The genus contains four species: A. conicocoricis from Japan, and three Nearctic species transferred from other genera (A. viticola, A. vitiscoryloides, and A. vitispomum). All species are specialized gall inducers on Vitis species.
Aplomerus
A small genus of parasitoid wasps in the subfamily Xoridinae (Ichneumonidae). The genus exhibits a disjunct distribution across North America, Japan, and southeast Asia. Eight species are currently recognized, including two described from the Oriental region (Thailand and Vietnam) and one from Japan. Aplomerus is considered a basal lineage within Xoridinae.
Autosticha kyotensis
Kyoto moth
A small moth in the family Autostichidae, originally described from Japan in 1931. It has established populations in the southeastern United States as an introduced species. The species is known to feed on specific host plants in both its native and introduced ranges.
Bombus cryptarum

Bombus cryptarum is a widespread bumblebee species native to the northern hemisphere, occurring across Europe, Asia, and western North America. It belongs to the subgenus Bombus sensu stricto, a species complex of morphologically similar and difficult-to-distinguish bees. The species was only recently confirmed in the British Isles and its complete distribution remains unclear due to ongoing taxonomic uncertainties. Several subspecies have been described, including the endangered B. cryptarum florilegus in Japan and the recently described B. cryptarum pallidocinctus.
Borboropsis
Borboropsis is a genus of small flies in the family Heleomyzidae, established by Czerny in 1902. The genus contains at least four described species distributed across Europe and East Asia. Species in this genus are part of a family commonly associated with decaying organic matter and shaded, moist habitats.
Brathinus
Brathinus is a genus of rove beetles in the family Staphylinidae, distributed across North America and East Asia (Japan, China). The genus is distinguished from typical staphylinids by its unusually long elytra that cover nearly the entire abdomen, rather than leaving most abdominal segments exposed. Six species are currently recognized, with three described from North America and three from Japan. The genus was established by LeConte in 1852.
Cacopsylla fatsiae
Cacopsylla fatsiae is a psyllid species in the family Psyllidae, described by Jensen in 1957. It belongs to the genus Cacopsylla, which includes numerous phloem-feeding insects associated with woody plants. The species has been recorded in Japan, China (Hong Kong), and California (USA). Like other Cacopsylla species, it is presumed to feed on plant phloem sap, though specific host associations for C. fatsiae remain poorly documented in published literature.

Calomycterus setarius, commonly known as the imported long-horned weevil, is a broad-nosed weevil native to Japan that has become established in eastern North America. The species belongs to the family Curculionidae and is classified within the subfamily Entiminae. It is frequently encountered in the northeastern and midwestern United States, with confirmed records from states including Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa.

Campylomma is a genus of plant bugs (family Miridae, tribe Nasocorini) comprising at least 12 recognized species. The genus is best known from detailed studies of C. verbasci, the mullein bug, which exhibits a predator-phytophage feeding strategy and has been investigated for pheromone-based mating disruption in orchard systems. Japanese species have been taxonomically revised, with emphasis on genitalic characters for identification. The genus occurs across temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere including North America, Europe, and East Asia.

Chaetocnema confinis is a small flea beetle (Chrysomelidae: Alticinae) with a cosmopolitan distribution spanning Africa, the Caribbean, Central and North America, South America, Oceania, and Southern Asia. It is a significant agricultural pest of sweetpotato (Ipomoea batatas), with adults feeding on foliage and larvae developing in soil to feed on tuberous roots. Larval feeding causes distinctive linear epidermal damage to storage roots, creating economic losses in commercial production. The species has been studied intensively in Japan, where seasonal damage patterns have been documented.
Coptotermes
Coptotermes is a genus of subterranean termites in the family Rhinotermitidae, containing approximately 71 described species. The genus is thought to have originated in Southeast Asia and includes some of the world's most economically destructive termite pests, notably Coptotermes formosanus (Formosan subterranean termite) and C. gestroi (Asian subterranean termite). A 2013 consensus among 31 termite experts reduced the number of validated species from 69 to 21 based on morphological and molecular evidence, with many historical names suspected to be synonyms. Species in this genus exhibit complex social behaviors including age-based task division and unique nitrogen recycling strategies.

Dicraeus
Dicraeus is a genus of small flies in the family Chloropidae, first described by Loew in 1873. Species within this genus exhibit specialized feeding habits, with some species feeding on bamboo flowers and others developing as seed predators in grasses. The genus shows notable host specificity, with oviposition behavior influenced by host plant morphology such as glume pubescence. Population genetic studies in Japanese species reveal contrasting patterns of genetic structure correlated with host plant flowering phenology.
Eurypogon
Eurypogon is a genus of soft-bodied plant beetles in the family Artematopodidae. The genus contains approximately 11 described species distributed across the Holarctic region, with species described from North America, Japan, and China. Two Chinese species, E. jaechi and E. heishuiensis, were described in 2013 from mountainous regions of Yunnan Province. The genus is characterized by soft, flexible bodies and is placed phylogenetically within the superfamily Elateroidea in a basal position near Omethidae and Telegeusidae.
Euschistus servus
Brown Stink Bug
Euschistus servus, commonly known as the brown stink bug, is a native North American pentatomid species distributed across Central America and North America. It is a significant agricultural pest in the southern United States, feeding on a wide range of crops including soybeans, cotton, corn, peanuts, peaches, and pecans. The species is highly mobile, capable of dispersing up to 15.9 km in flight mill studies, and exhibits seasonal movement between crop hosts and non-crop habitats. Two subspecies are recognized: E. s. servus and E. s. euschistoides.

A comb-footed spider in the family Theridiidae, originally described from a female specimen collected in Saga Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan in 1906. The species was recently reinstated as valid based on distinct body coloration, markings, genital morphology, and molecular data (partial mitochondrial COI gene), having been previously synonymized with Yunohamella lyrica. Molecular analysis revealed that females previously identified as Platnickina mneon are conspecific with males associated with Yunohamella varietas, leading to the latter's synonymization.
