Anthicidae is a family of beetles comprising over 3,500 species in approximately 100 genera. Members are commonly known as ant-like flower beetles due to their striking morphological resemblance to ants. The family is characterized by a constricted head forming a distinct neck and slender appendages that enhance the ant-mimicry. Adults are omnivorous, feeding on small arthropods, pollen, fungi, and other available materials. The family has fossil representatives dating to the Early Cretaceous (Barremian) from Lebanese amber.

Conocephalini
Common Meadow Katydids
Conocephalini is a tribe of katydids within the subfamily Conocephalinae, commonly known as meadow katydids and conehead katydids. Members are among the most abundant orthopterans in eastern North America and adjacent Canada. The tribe includes genera such as Conocephalus (lesser meadow katydids), Neoconocephalus (conehead katydids), and Orchelimum (greater meadow katydids). Many species exhibit omnivorous feeding habits and produce species-specific acoustic signals for mate attraction.

It occupies coastal and estuarine habitats from Cape Cod Bay to the Gulf of Mexico.

Pugettia is a genus of marine kelp crabs in the family Epialtidae, distributed across the North Pacific from North America to East Asia. Species inhabit shallow subtidal zones, primarily associated with macroalgal habitats including kelp beds, Sargassum stands, and red algal turfs. Many species exhibit ontogenetic habitat shifts, with juveniles and smaller individuals occupying deeper algal turfs while larger adults migrate to shallower macroalgal beds. The genus includes approximately 25 extant species plus one fossil species, with several species serving as important subjects for studies of crab growth, reproduction, and habitat ecology.

Rhinacloa forticornis is a phyline mirid with a broad geographic distribution spanning the Americas, Caribbean, and Pacific. Laboratory studies demonstrate facultative predatory behavior on soft-bodied arthropods, particularly thrips larvae, using fore tarsi to manipulate prey and exhibiting extra-oral digestion. However, the species shows preferential feeding on plant tissue, indicating that phytophagy remains the predominant feeding mode. It has been introduced to Hawaii (1962) and is considered a pest of cotton and other crops in some regions.
