Alebra bicincta
Alebra bicincta is a species of leafhopper in the family Cicadellidae, first described by DeLong in 1918. It belongs to the subfamily Typhlocybinae, a group of small leafhoppers often associated with woody plants. The specific epithet "bicincta" (meaning "two-banded") likely refers to a color pattern feature, though detailed morphological descriptions remain limited in accessible literature. The species is recorded from several U.S. states but appears to be relatively poorly known compared to other Alebra species.

Anisostena kansana is a small leaf beetle in the family Chrysomelidae, specifically within the tortoise beetle subfamily Cassidinae. Adults measure 4.1–5.3 mm and display distinctive metallic coloration: the head and elytra are greenish-blue, while the pronotum is reddish-orange with a greenish-blue anterior area. The species is known from a limited geographic range in the central United States, with records from Kansas, Mississippi, Missouri, and Oklahoma. It has been documented feeding on Tripsacum dactyloides (eastern gamagrass).
Blissus occiduus
Western Chinch Bug
Blissus occiduus, the western chinch bug, is a phloem-feeding true bug (Hemiptera: Blissidae) that is a significant pest of warm-season turfgrasses, particularly buffalograss and zoysiagrass. The species exhibits strong host preference hierarchies, with buffalograss being the most preferred host followed by zoysiagrass, though it can survive and reproduce on a broad range of grasses including agronomic crops. Field studies have documented inconsistent control with neonicotinoid insecticides, with thiamethoxam showing particularly rapid degradation in buffalograss tissues compared to imidacloprid and clothianidin.

A subspecies of juniper hairstreak butterfly in the family Lycaenidae. The name 'juniperaria' reflects its close association with juniper host plants. This subspecies is part of the broader Callophrys gryneus species complex, which shows regional variation across North America. Based on source materials, it has been observed in Oklahoma and Kansas, typically in habitats where juniper or cedar species occur.
Cerodontha saintandrewsensis
Cerodontha saintandrewsensis is a species of leaf-miner fly in the family Agromyzidae. The genus Cerodontha comprises small flies whose larvae create distinctive feeding patterns by boring between the layers of grass blades and leaves of sedges and rushes. This species was documented during blacklighting surveys in Leavenworth, Kansas, in early spring 2024.
Cerodontha scirpivora
Cerodontha scirpivora is a leaf miner fly in the family Agromyzidae. The species was described by Spencer in 1969. Its larvae create mines between the layers of leaves in grasses, sedges, and rushes. The specific epithet "scirpivora" indicates an association with Scirpus (bulrushes), a genus of sedges.
Clinohelea bimaculata
Bimaculata Group
Clinohelea bimaculata is a species of biting midge in the family Ceratopogonidae, first described by Loew in 1861. It belongs to a diverse family of tiny flies commonly known as no-see-ums, punkies, or biting midges. The species has been documented in North America, with photographic records from Kansas. Like other ceratopogonids, it is extremely small and presents significant challenges for observation and identification.
Diplotaxis rudis
Diplotaxis rudis is a species of scarab beetle in the family Scarabaeidae, first described by LeConte in 1859. It belongs to the subfamily Melolonthinae and tribe Diplotaxini. The species is found in North America, with records from Kansas, North Dakota, and Texas. Very little specific information about its biology or ecology has been documented in the available literature.
Diplotaxis subangulata
Diplotaxis subangulata is a small scarab beetle in the family Scarabaeidae, subfamily Melolonthinae, described by LeConte in 1856. The genus Diplotaxis comprises small chafers, and this species occurs across western North America from British Columbia to Baja California, with records throughout the southwestern United States. Adults have been observed congregating on low vegetation, apparently to intercept pheromone trails in search of mates. The species is attracted to lights at night.
Efferia kansensis
Efferia kansensis is a species of robber fly in the family Asilidae, described by Hine in 1919. The specific epithet "kansensis" indicates Kansas as the type locality. As a member of the genus Efferia, it belongs to a group of medium to large-sized robber flies that are characteristic of North American arid and semi-arid regions. The genus Efferia is taxonomically complex and has undergone significant revision, with some former segregates now recognized as valid genera.
Erythroneura fraxa
Fraxa Leafhopper
Erythroneura fraxa is a species of microleafhopper in the family Cicadellidae, first described by Robinson in 1924. It belongs to the genus Erythroneura, a diverse group of small, colorful leafhoppers commonly found in North America. Members of this genus are known for their striking wing patterns with bands and streaks of color. The species has been documented in Kansas based on distribution records. Like other Erythroneura species, it likely feeds on plant sap using piercing-sucking mouthparts.

Like other leafhoppers, it is a small, plant-feeding insect with piercing-sucking mouthparts.
Philonix fulvicollis
Philonix fulvicollis is a gall wasp species in the family Cynipidae, first described by Fitch in 1859. It has an alternation of sexual and asexual generations, a phenomenon confirmed through molecular analysis of cytb and ITS2 sequences. The species is distributed across eastern and central North America, with records from the United States and Canada. Like other cynipid wasps, it induces gall formation on host plants, though specific host associations require further documentation.
Prairiana kansana
Prairiana kansana is a species of leafhopper in the family Cicadellidae, first described by Ball in 1920 as a variety of Gypona cinerea before being elevated to species status and transferred to the genus Prairiana. It belongs to the tribe Gyponini within the subfamily Iassinae. The species epithet 'kansana' indicates its association with the state of Kansas. As a member of the leafhopper family, it is presumed to feed on plant sap using piercing-sucking mouthparts, though specific host plant associations have not been documented in the available sources.
Pseudataenius socialis
Pseudataenius socialis is a species of aphodiine dung beetle in the family Scarabaeidae. It is known from scattered records across the central and southeastern United States. The species was described by Horn in 1871 and is placed in the tribe Eupariini within the subfamily Aphodiinae.
