Paraliburnia
Paraliburnia is a genus of delphacid planthoppers in the family Delphacidae, established by Jensen-Haarup in 1917. The genus contains seven described species distributed primarily in northern Europe. Members of this genus are small, slender insects that feed on plants and are part of the diverse assemblage of planthoppers within the Delphacidae family.
Paraliburnia furcata
Paraliburnia furcata is a species of planthopper in the family Delphacidae, described by Hamilton in 2002. It belongs to the genus Paraliburnia within the tribe Delphacini. The species is known from British Columbia, representing part of the North American distribution of this genus. Like other delphacid planthoppers, it is likely associated with grassland or meadow habitats where host grasses occur.
Paraliburnia kilmani
Paraliburnia kilmani is a species of delphacid planthopper in the family Delphacidae. It was described by Van Duzee in 1897. The species has been recorded from multiple provinces and states across North America.
Paralimnini
Paralimnini is a tribe of leafhoppers (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae) within the subfamily Deltocephalinae, established by Distant in 1908. The tribe comprises 139 genera and over 900 species, divided into two subtribes: Aglenina and Paralimnina. Members are distributed worldwide across all biogeographical regions, with the highest diversity occurring in the Oriental region.
Paralixes
Paralixes is a genus of planthoppers in the family Issidae, described by Caldwell in 1945. It belongs to the tribe Thioniini within the subfamily Issinae. Members of this genus are small, often compact-bodied insects adapted to life on host plants. The genus is poorly documented in scientific literature, with limited species-level descriptions and biological data available.
Paralixes scutatus
Paralixes scutatus is a species of planthopper in the family Issidae, first described by Walker in 1858. It belongs to the tribe Thioniini within the subfamily Issinae. The species has been recorded from the southwestern United States and parts of Central America. Like other Issidae, it is a member of the Fulgoroidea superfamily, characterized by their distinctive body shape and reduced wings in many species.
Parallaxis
Parallaxis is a genus of leafhoppers in the family Cicadellidae, subfamily Typhlocybinae, and tribe Dikraneurini. The genus was established by McAtee in 1926. Members of this genus are small, sap-feeding insects that inhabit diverse plant communities. As with other typhlocybines, they possess reduced wing venation and are among the smallest leafhoppers.
Paramesus
Paramesus is a genus of leafhoppers in the family Cicadellidae, subfamily Deltocephalinae, and tribe Paralimnini. The genus was established by Fieber in 1866 and belongs to the large group of true bugs (Hemiptera) within the Auchenorrhyncha. Leafhoppers in this genus are small, plant-feeding insects with piercing-sucking mouthparts. The genus is part of the diverse Membracoidea superfamily, which contains many economically significant agricultural pests.
Paramysidia
Paramysidia is a genus of derbid planthoppers established by Broomfield in 1985. It contains seven described species, all named by Broomfield except for two species originally described under different genera and later transferred. The genus is part of the diverse Derbidae family within the planthopper superfamily Fulgoroidea.

Peiratinae is a subfamily of assassin bugs (Reduviidae) commonly known as corsairs. The subfamily has a worldwide distribution with greatest diversity in tropical regions. Approximately 30 genera and 350 species are described, though estimates vary. Members of this subfamily are predatory true bugs. The genus Sirthenea is notable for its cosmopolitan distribution across all continents.
Pelocoris femoratus
creeping water bug, saucer bug
Pelocoris femoratus is a species of creeping water bug in the family Naucoridae. It is found across Central America, North America, and South America. The species inhabits still waters with dense vegetation, where it actively hunts other arthropods. It is active from spring through autumn and can deliver a painful bite if mishandled.
Pemphigini
Pemphigini is a tribe of gall-forming aphids within the subfamily Pemphiginae. The tribe comprises two subtribes: Prociphilina, which typically induces pseudo-galls on leaves, and Pemphigina, which forms both pseudo-galls and true galls at various locations on host plants including leaf-petiole joints, petiole midpoints, and branches. Molecular phylogenetic studies indicate that Pemphigina is monophyletic, though the monophyly of Pemphigini as a whole is not supported. Gall morphology in this group appears to have evolved from open pseudo-galls to closed galls, with progressive relocation to more protected positions on the host plant.
Pemphigus knowltoni
Pemphigus knowltoni is a species of aphid in the family Aphididae, described by Stroyan in 1970. It belongs to the genus Pemphigus, a group of aphids commonly known as gall aphids or poplar gall aphids due to their habit of inducing gall formation on host plants. The species is part of the subfamily Pemphiginae, which contains many species with complex life cycles involving host alternation between primary woody hosts (typically poplars in the genus Populus) and secondary herbaceous hosts. Very little specific information about P. knowltoni has been published in the accessible literature.
Pemphigus longicornis
Pemphigus monophagus
Pemphigus monophagus is a root-feeding aphid in the family Aphididae, described by Maxson in 1934. It belongs to the genus Pemphigus, which comprises aphids that typically form galls or inhabit root systems of host plants. Like other Pemphigus species, it is frequently misidentified in agricultural contexts and has been confused with other root-infesting aphids in online discussions.
Pemphigus tartareus
Pemphigus tartareus is a North American aphid species in the family Aphididae, described by Hottes and Frison in 1931. It belongs to the genus Pemphigus, which comprises root-feeding aphids often associated with gall formation or subterranean development on host plants. The species has been historically confused with other root-infesting aphids in agricultural and horticultural contexts, particularly in discussions of "root aphid" pests.
Pendarus auroalbus
Gold and White Leafhopper
Pendarus auroalbus is a leafhopper species in the family Cicadellidae, commonly known as the Gold and White Leafhopper. It occurs in the southeastern United States, with records from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. The species has been documented in 101 iNaturalist observations, indicating moderate observational frequency. As with other Cicadellidae, it is presumed to feed on plant vascular fluids using piercing-sucking mouthparts.
Pendarus osborni
Pendarus osborni is a species of leafhopper in the family Cicadellidae, first described by Metcalf in 1955. It belongs to the genus Pendarus, a group within the diverse leafhopper fauna of North America.
