Agrilus obsoletoguttatus
Beech Borer
Agrilus obsoletoguttatus is a small metallic wood-boring beetle in the family Buprestidae, native to North America. It is among the smallest jewel beetle species utilized as prey by the specialist predatory wasp Cerceris fumipennis, which provisions its underground nests with paralyzed buprestid beetles. The species has been documented in nest caches containing up to 13 individuals, reflecting its small size relative to larger buprestid prey.

montanus
Caelius montanus is a species of scarab beetle in the family Scarabaeidae, subfamily Aegialiinae. It was originally described as Aegialia montana by Brown in 1931. The species is found in mountainous and northern regions of western North America, including Alaska, the western Canadian provinces, and the Rocky Mountain states of the United States. Like other members of the tribe Aegialiini, it is associated with sandy or loose soil habitats.
Cicindela decemnotata
Badlands Tiger Beetle
Cicindela decemnotata, commonly known as the badlands tiger beetle, is a flashy tiger beetle species in the family Carabidae. It is the westernmost representative of a species group characterized by green coloration with variable red markings on the head, pronotum, and elytra. The species has undergone recent and rapid phylogenetic radiation following glacial recession, with five recognized subspecies based on morphological and molecular evidence. Populations show relatively low genetic divergence despite marked morphological differences, suggesting colonization within the past 10,000 years.
Colletes ochraceus
Ochraceous Cellophane Bee, Ochraceous Plasterer Bee
Colletes ochraceus is a solitary ground-nesting bee in the family Colletidae, commonly known as the ochraceous cellophane bee or ochraceous plasterer bee. Native to North America, this species exhibits the characteristic cellophane bee behavior of lining underground brood cells with a waterproof, cellophane-like secretion from the Dufour's gland. Females construct individual burrows in sandy soils, provisioning them with a semi-liquid mixture of pollen and nectar for their larvae. The species is part of a diverse genus of early spring-emerging bees that serve as important native pollinators.
Cyladini
Cyladini is a tribe of weevils in the family Brentidae, subfamily Apioninae. The tribe includes economically significant pests of sweet potato, particularly the sweetpotato weevil (Cylas formicarius), which causes substantial damage to storage roots in tropical and subtropical production regions. Members of this tribe are characterized by their association with Convolvulaceae host plants and their status as specialized root-feeding pests.

Primrose Sphinxes
Euproserpinus is a genus of sphinx moths (Sphingidae) commonly known as Primrose Sphinxes. The genus contains three described species, all native to western North America. The most well-documented species, Euproserpinus euterpe, is federally threatened and has been extensively studied for its specialized biology. Members of this genus are associated with evening primrose host plants and exhibit unique pupal adaptations for emergence in sandy soil habitats.
Gonocephalum sericeum
Gonocephalum sericeum is a small darkling beetle (Tenebrionidae) native to North Africa and the Middle East. It has been introduced to North America, where it has been established in California since at least 1980. The species is adventive (non-native and established) in North America and has been confused with Blapstinus dilatatus due to similar appearance.
Parvindela lemniscata rebaptisata
rouged tiger beetle
Parvindela lemniscata rebaptisata, commonly known as the rouged tiger beetle, is a subspecies of tiger beetle in the family Cicindelidae. It was formerly classified under the genus Jundlandia. The subspecies has been documented in dry grassland habitats in eastern New Mexico, where it occurs on sandy-loam substrates. It is active during the fall season and can be found alongside other tiger beetle species such as Cicindelidia punctulata chihuahuae and Cicindelidia obsoleta obsoleta. The specific epithet 'rebaptisata' reflects its taxonomic reclassification.
Spharagemon
band-winged grasshoppers
Spharagemon is a genus of band-winged grasshoppers in the family Acrididae, containing approximately 9–10 described species distributed across North America. Members of this genus are characterized by their association with sandy or loose soil habitats and their distinctive hindwing coloration patterns. The genus includes several well-studied species such as the mottled sand grasshopper (S. collare) and Say's grasshopper (S. equale), which serve as important indicators of sand prairie ecosystems.
