Anthrenus fuscus
Mill Carpet Beetle
Anthrenus fuscus is a small carpet beetle in the family Dermestidae, commonly known as the Mill Carpet Beetle. It occurs in North America and Europe, with populations in southern Britain showing peak abundance near agricultural areas. Adults are found on flowers during summer months, while larvae feed on dead insects in natural habitats such as spiders' webs and under tree bark. The species exhibits sharply defined habitat separation from the closely related A. verbasci.
Halictophagus
Leafhopper Twistwing Parasites
Halictophagus is a genus of twisted-wing parasites (Strepsiptera) in the family Halictophagidae. These insects are endoparasitoids of leafhoppers and related Hemiptera, primarily in the families Cicadellidae and Cercopidae. The genus exhibits extreme sexual dimorphism: free-living males with reduced wings and branched antennae, and neotenic females that remain within the host. Multiple species have been described worldwide, with documented hosts including mango leafhoppers (Idioscopus spp., Bakera nigrobilineata) and other planthoppers.
Plectrocnemia
tube maker caddisflies
Plectrocnemia is a genus of tube maker caddisflies in the family Polycentropodidae comprising more than 120 described species. Larvae are aquatic predators that construct silken capture nets to intercept prey. The genus has been extensively studied for its larval silk production, vibration-mediated predatory behavior, and population genetics. Species occur across Europe and into western Asia, with detailed biological information available for several well-studied species including P. conspersa and P. brevis.

Least Pygmy Woodlouse
Trichoniscus pygmaeus is a minute terrestrial isopod commonly known as the Least Pygmy Woodlouse. It is native to Britain and Ireland, with a limited introduced distribution in the United States. The species is among the smallest woodlice in its native range, measuring approximately 2.5 mm in length. Its translucent, pinkish-yellow coloration and diminutive size distinguish it from other European woodlice.
