Xanthopygus xanthopygus
Xanthopygus xanthopygus is a species of rove beetle (Staphylinidae) in the tribe Xanthopygina. Originally described as Staphylinus xanthopygus by Nordmann in 1837, the species has undergone taxonomic revision with a lectotype designated in 2021. The species occurs in the Americas from the southwestern United States through Central America to South America. As a member of the large rove beetle family, it belongs to a group characterized by shortened elytra and flexible abdomens.
Xeropigo tridentiger
Xeropigo tridentiger is a corinnid spider species first described from Colombia in 1870. It is one of the most widespread species in the genus, with records spanning northern South America including Colombia, Venezuela, and Brazil. The species name refers to the three-toothed (trident) structure of the male pedipalp, a diagnostic feature. Recent taxonomic work has updated its known distribution, confirming its presence across multiple Brazilian states.
Xylomoia
Xylomoia is a genus of moths in the family Noctuidae, established by Staudinger in 1892. The genus contains at least seven recognized species distributed across the Holarctic region, with the majority occurring in Europe and northern Asia. A 2024 integrative taxonomic review synonymized three species—X. strix, X. retinax, and X. stangelmaieri—as subspecies of X. strix based on morphological and genetic evidence. The genus belongs to the tribe Apameini within the subfamily Noctuinae.

Zaprionus is a genus of fruit flies in the family Drosophilidae, distinguished by conspicuous white longitudinal stripes across the head and thorax. The genus is divided into two subgenera based on stripe number: Zaprionus (even number of stripes) and Anaprionus (odd number of stripes). Species occur primarily in Africa and southern Asia, with several species showing invasive expansion. The genus is taxonomically nested within the paraphyletic genus Drosophila.

A tribe of beetles within the family Zopheridae, characterized by heavily sclerotized bodies and a primarily New World distribution. The tribe comprises multiple genera including Noserinus, Nosoderma, Phloeodes, Sesaspis, and Verodes. A 2008 phylogenetic analysis revised the generic classification, elevated Sesaspis from synonymy, and described two new Central American species.
Zorochros cucullatus
Zorochros cucullatus is a species of click beetle in the family Elateridae. The species was previously placed in the genus Paratettix, but has been reclassified to Zorochros. It is a small beetle with very limited observational records.
Zygota
Zygota is a genus of small parasitoid wasps in the family Diapriidae. Members are medium-sized (2.5–4.0 mm), melanic, and pubescent with brightly colored appendages. The genus occurs in the Palearctic and Nearctic regions, with 19 species documented in Germany alone. Taxonomic boundaries between Zygota and the related genus Pantoclis have been clarified through recent morphological and DNA barcoding studies.
