Amphorophora
Berry Aphids
Amphorophora is a genus of aphids in the family Aphididae, established by George Bowdler Buckton in 1876. The genus contains approximately 27 species, predominantly distributed in the Nearctic region with presence in Eurasia and North America. Species within this genus are significant agricultural pests of Rubus crops, particularly raspberries and blackberries. Several species, including A. idaei and A. agathonica, are major vectors of plant viruses affecting commercial berry production.
Anthonomus rubi
strawberry blossom weevil, strawberry-blossom weevil
Anthonomus rubi is a small weevil native to Europe, Asia, and North Africa that has become established in North America (first detected in British Columbia, Canada in 2019, then Washington State, USA in 2021). It is a major agricultural pest of strawberry and raspberry, with females laying single eggs in unopened flower buds before severing the stalk, causing bud death and yield losses up to 80% in severe cases. The species has been observed to exhibit prolonged adult activity year-round in protected cultivation systems, with recent documentation of direct fruit feeding behavior in addition to traditional bud damage.
Byturus unicolor
raspberry fruitworm, western raspberry fruitworm, fruitworm beetle
Byturus unicolor is a small fruitworm beetle in the family Byturidae. Adults measure 4–5 mm and are yellowish-brown in color. The species is distributed across Central America and North America. It is commonly known as the raspberry fruitworm due to its association with raspberry plants.
Illinoia rubicola
Spot-winged Raspberry Aphid
Illinoia rubicola is an aphid species in the family Aphididae, commonly known as the Spot-winged Raspberry Aphid. The species was described by Oestlund in 1886. It is placed in the genus Illinoia, tribe Macrosiphini, and is associated with raspberry (Rubus) host plants. Taxonomic status varies between sources, with Catalogue of Life listing it as a synonym while GBIF and iNaturalist treat it as accepted.
Monophadnoides
raspberry sawfly
Monophadnoides is a genus of sawflies in the family Tenthredinidae, subfamily Blennocampinae, containing approximately eight described species. The genus was established by Ashmead in 1898. One species, Monophadnoides rubi, is known as the raspberry sawfly and is recognized as an agricultural pest. Sawflies in this genus possess the characteristic saw-shaped ovipositor typical of Tenthredinidae, which females use to insert eggs into plant tissue.
