Protorthodes is a of in the Noctuidae, established by McDunnough in 1943. The genus contains approximately 15 described distributed primarily in North America, with some species extending into Mexico. Most species were originally described in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with several added in 2014 by Lafontaine and colleagues.
