Micracidini
Genus Guides
7Micracidini is a tribe of Afrotropical bark beetles within Scolytinae. The tribe comprises 11 valid following a 2021 taxonomic revision that erected five new genera (Neomicracis, Leiomicracis, Diplotrichus, Pseudolanurgus, Microlanurgus) and synonymized one genus. Phylogenetic analyses based on five molecular markers and morphological characters support this classification. The tribe originated in the late Cretaceous and exhibits a biogeographic pattern centered on Madagascar, which was colonized once from East Africa followed by multiple re-colonizations to the mainland.

Taxonomic history
Prior to the 2021 revision by Jordal, the tribe contained fewer recognized . The revision transferred multiple to new genera and established new combinations for approximately 20 species. Several species previously placed in Dendrochilus, Lanurgus, Pseudomicracis, and other genera were reassigned.
Phylogenetic basis
The current classification is supported by concatenated analysis of COI, EF-1α, 28S, PABP1, and CAD gene sequences combined with morphological characters. The time-tree indicates a late Cretaceous origin for the tribe.
Madagascar diversification
Madagascar has played a central role in Micracidini diversification. The island was colonized once from East Africa, followed by multiple independent re- events from Madagascar back to the African mainland, contributing to in continental .
