Agnorisma is a of noctuid established by Lafontaine in 1998. in this genus were previously classified under Xestia but were separated based on morphological and genetic distinctions. The genus includes at least three recognized species, among them the Pale-banded Dart Moth and Collared Dart Moth. Agnorisma moths are part of the diverse Noctuinae , which contains many dart moth species.

Taxonomic History

This was erected by J. Donald Lafontaine in 1998 to accommodate previously placed in Xestia. The type species is Agnorisma bollii.

Etymology

The name is an anagram of 'Ragmosina', a name proposed earlier but not validly published.
