Taxonomic note

The name Chrysotus obliquus should not be confused with Phymatodes obliquus, a longhorn beetle (Cerambycidae) described by Casey in 1891. These are entirely unrelated in different orders. The Phymatodes obliquus was resurrected from synonymy by Swift & Ray (2010) to replace the misapplied name P. decussatus for a common oak-associated species.
