Stenomorpha parallela

(LeConte, 1851)

Stenomorpha parallela is a of darkling beetle in the Tenebrionidae, tribe Asidini. The Stenomorpha historically contained 88 species with limited modern taxonomic revision until recent work by Fran Keller, who recognized 51 valid species with seven newly recognized subgenera. Certain Stenomorpha species occur in California vernal pools, though S. parallela itself is recorded from Mexico. Members of this genus include both flighted and flightless species.
