Araeoschizus airmeti
Araeoschizus airmeti is a species of darkling beetle in the family Tenebrionidae, described by Tanner in 1945. It belongs to the genus Araeoschizus, a group of beetles found in arid and semi-arid regions of western North America. The species is known from very few observations, suggesting it may be rare, geographically restricted, or under-collected. Like other members of its family, it likely inhabits dry environments and exhibits nocturnal or crepuscular activity patterns.
Myoplatypus
Myoplatypus is a rare genus of pinhole borer beetles in the subfamily Platypodinae, comprising nine tropical and one temperate American species. The genus was described by Wood in 1993 and remained known only from North and Central America until the first South American records from Peru were documented. Most species are represented by very few specimens, suggesting either narrow geographic ranges or specialized ecological requirements.
Paramblynotus
Paramblynotus is a genus of extremely rare parasitoid wasps in the family Liopteridae, subfamily Mayrellinae. The genus comprises very small species that superficially resemble gall wasps (Cynipidae). It occurs in the Afrotropical region and Madagascar, with additional species described from China. The genus was first recorded from Madagascar in 2013, where two species groups were identified including the endemic P. seyrigi group. Most species are known from single specimens, and museum collections remain under-represented.
Scaphomorphus pleuralis
Scaphomorphus pleuralis is a species of weevil in the family Curculionidae, genus Scaphomorphus. The genus Scaphomorphus is a group of lixine weevils (subfamily Lixinae) distributed in the Americas. The species epithet 'pleuralis' refers to lateral (pleural) features, likely describing some aspect of the thoracic structure. Very few documented observations of this species exist, with only a single observation recorded on iNaturalist, indicating it is either rare, cryptic, or under-collected. The genus is related to Scaphomorphus subcylindricus, a Florida endemic found on Lupinus ocalensis (Ocala lupine).
