Apamea maxima is a noctuid native to western North America. It was described by Harrison G. Dyar in 1904, originally placed in the Polia. The species occurs in a range extending from British Columbia southward to California. Like other members of the genus Apamea, it is part of the diverse cutworm moth group within the Noctuidae.
