Taxonomic history
The was originally placed in , which has since been reclassified as the Arctiinae within Erebidae. The two were originally described under different genera (Neoplynes cytheraea as Ctenucha cytheraea by Druce, and Neoplynes eudora as Ctenucha eudora by Dyar) before being transferred to Neoplynes.
