Identification
Distinguished from other Coccinella by the combination of usually spotless red and mostly black pronotum with pale and spots. The Seven-spotted Lady Beetle (C. septempunctata) has seven elytral spots and white pronotal 'lapels' only at the corners. The Nine-spotted Lady Beetle (C. novemnotata) has nine spots and a complete white pronotal collar.
