Akephorus is a of ground beetles in the Carabidae, tribe Dyschiriini. The genus comprises two described : A. marinus and A. obesus. Members of this genus are small carabid beetles associated with coastal or saline .

Taxonomic history

The was established by John Lawrence LeConte in 1852 with A. marinus as the type . A. obesus was added in 1866. Both species remain valid with no subsequent additions to the genus.
