Apenes is a of ground beetles in the Carabidae, established by LeConte in 1851. The genus comprises at least 80 described , with a distribution centered in southern and neotropical regions of the New World. Only two species extend into northern regions. Members belong to the tribe Lebiini within the Lebiinae.
