Harpalitae was historically recognized as a supertribe of ground beetles within the Harpalinae of Carabidae. Following taxonomic reorganization of Carabidae, the supertribe designation fell out of use. The four tribes formerly grouped under Harpalitae are now classified directly under Harpalinae. The term persists primarily in older literature.

Harpalitae was established to group multiple tribes within Harpalinae. Modern phylogenetic studies and reorganization of Carabidae reduced Harpalinae to four tribes, rendering the supertribe rank unnecessary.

Current Status

The tribes formerly placed in Harpalitae are now treated as direct members of Harpalinae. Researchers should verify whether sources using 'Harpalitae' reflect current or historical usage.
