  • Donacia

Donacia is a large genus of aquatic leaf beetles in the subfamily Donaciinae. Adults are active, capable of sustained flight, and possess adaptations for both aerial and submerged existence. The genus is distinguished by a truncate elytral apex and a pubescent area above the procoxa. Larvae develop on submerged portions of aquatic plants, while adults inhabit surface parts of the same host vegetation. The genus contains approximately 113 described species arranged into 15 proposed subgenera, with major radiations in the Nearctic and Palaearctic regions.

  • Mansonia titillans

Mansonia titillans is a neotropical mosquito species in the tribe Mansoniini. It is the most abundant Mansoniini species in central Florida phosphate regions and has shown recent northern range expansion into South Carolina. The species is distinguished by its unique underwater oviposition behavior, where females deposit eggs on the undersurfaces of aquatic plant leaves. Larval development occurs in association with floating vegetation, particularly water lettuce (Pistia stratiotes) and water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes).

  • Nanophyes brevis

Nanophyes brevis is a species of straight-snouted weevil in the family Brentidae, subfamily Nanophyinae. The species was described by Boheman in 1845. Like other members of the genus Nanophyes, it is a small weevil associated with aquatic or semi-aquatic plants. The genus is known for species that develop in seeds or stems of plants, particularly in the family Lythraceae.

  • Rhysophora

Rhysophora is a genus of shore flies (Diptera: Ephydridae) in the tribe Discomyzini, distributed primarily in the Neotropics with two Nearctic species. The genus was revised in 2015 following discovery of four new Neotropical species, confirming its monophyly and establishing Helaeomyia as its sister group. Species diversity is greatest in South America.
