Gonodes is a of owlet moths (Noctuidae) erected by Herbert Druce in 1908. The genus contains at least 12 described distributed primarily in the Neotropical region, with records from Central and South America and the Caribbean. Species-level has been revised by multiple authors including Hampson, Dyar, and E. D. Jones during the early 20th century. The genus is classified within the Noctuinae, one of the largest and most diverse groups of noctuid .

Taxonomic history

The was established by Herbert Druce in 1908 with Gonodes albifissa as the type . Several species were later transferred from other genera, including G. aroensis (formerly in Crambidia), G. liquida (formerly in Zanclognatha), and G. trapezoides (formerly in Herminia).

Species diversity

Twelve are currently recognized: G. albifascia, G. albifissa, G. aroensis, G. cuneata, G. densissima, G. dianiphea, G. echion, G. lilla, G. liquida, G. netopha, G. obliqua, G. pallida, and G. trapezoides. Most species were described between 1904 and 1918.
