Edwards, 1886), and Cissusa inconspicua (Schaus, 1894). The genus is placed within the diverse erebid moth fauna and has been subject to taxonomic revision, with one former species (Cissusa subtermina) reassigned.

Taxonomic History
The Cissusa was described by Francis Walker in 1856. Mustelin (2006) provided a revision of related in Zootaxa 1278. One , Cissusa subtermina (Smith, 1900), has been removed from the genus and is now treated as a former species.
