Cissusa is a of in the Erebidae, Calpinae. The genus was established by Francis Walker in 1856 and contains at least five recognized distributed in the Americas. Species include Cissusa spadix (originally described by Cramer in 1780), Cissusa mucronata (Grote, 1883), Cissusa valens (H. Edwards, 1881), Cissusa indiscreta (H. Edwards, 1886), and Cissusa inconspicua (Schaus, 1894). The genus is placed within the diverse erebid moth fauna and has been subject to taxonomic revision, with one former species (Cissusa subtermina) reassigned.

Taxonomic History

The Cissusa was described by Francis Walker in 1856. Mustelin (2006) provided a revision of related in Zootaxa 1278. One , Cissusa subtermina (Smith, 1900), has been removed from the genus and is now treated as a former species.

The currently contains five recognized : Cissusa spadix (the oldest described, from 1780), Cissusa mucronata (1883), Cissusa valens (1881), Cissusa indiscreta (1886), and Cissusa inconspicua (1894).
