The species is widespread across North and Central America, ranging from Oregon to Michigan in the United States, south through Mexico to Guatemala and Honduras. As a member of the bee fly family, it shares the characteristic and -mimicking appearance common to many Bombyliidae. The Chrysanthrax includes species that are known to parasitize ground-nesting bees.
