Taxonomic history

In 2021, Kamiński et al. moved Amphidorini and six other tribes from Tenebrioninae into the newly resurrected Blaptinae. This transfer encompassed 281 and approximately 4000 , representing about 50% of former Tenebrioninae diversity. Bouchard et al. (2021) adopted this classification. In 2022, Johnston et al. removed Nycterinus from Amphidorini, placing it in incertae sedis within Tenebrioninae.

Genera composition

The tribe contains six : Eleodes (1829), Eleodimorpha (1909), Embaphion (1824), Lariversius (1947), Neobaphion (1925), and Trogloderus (1879). All are restricted to North America except Eleodes, which also occurs in the Neotropics.
