Malacopterus tenellus is a of longhorn in the , first described by Johan Christian Fabricius in 1801. The species is distributed across parts of South America and the Caribbean, with records from Brazil, Bolivia, and other regions. As a member of the tribe Oemini within the Cerambycinae, it represents a lineage of wood-boring beetles. The original description placed it in the Callidium, but it was later transferred to Malacopterus.
