Taxonomic History

The was described by Jules Putzeys in 1867, with multiple described in his 1866 and subsequent publications. Several species were later transferred from other genera, including O. rufus (originally described as Reicheia rufa by Putzeys in 1846) and O. minor and O. ovoideus (transferred from Reicheia by Kult in 1950). Recent descriptions include O. amrishi and O. rishwani (Makhan, 2010), O. minae (Makhan & Ezzatpanah, 2011), and O. bulirschi and O. valdesi (Dostal & L. M. Vieira, 2018).
