Protolophidae is a of harvestmen (order Opiliones) containing approximately six described within the single Protolophus. The family is restricted to Western North America. Its taxonomic status remains unsettled; while traditionally recognized as a distinct family, some recent treatments have subsumed it within Sclerosomatidae.

Taxonomic Uncertainty

The 's validity is disputed. While Giribet et al. (2010) and Hedin et al. (2012) recognize Protolophidae as distinct, Kury (in Zhang, 2013) does not recognize it as a separate family. The Classification of Opiliones website (Kury, 2014) maintains recognition of the family.
