Strotarchus is a of araneomorph spiders in the Cheiracanthiidae, first described by Eugène Louis Simon in 1888. The genus has undergone several family-level reassignments, originally placed in Clubionidae, moved to Miturgidae in 1967, and transferred to Cheiracanthiidae in 2014. It contains approximately 21 distributed across the Americas and Pakistan, with the majority of species described from Mexico and the United States in 2012. The genus is considered a senior synonym of Marcellina and Coreidon.

Distribution

The Strotarchus has been recorded from South America (Brazil, Peru), Central America ( Rica, Honduras, Mexico), North America (United States), and South Asia (Pakistan). The majority of described occur in Mexico, with additional species in the United States, Brazil, Peru, Costa Rica, Pakistan, and Honduras. The type species, Strotarchus nebulosus, is from Mexico.

Strotarchus has been reclassified multiple times: originally described in Clubionidae (1888), transferred to Miturgidae (1967), and moved to Cheiracanthiidae (2014). This reflects ongoing revisions in spider -level , particularly for sac spider groups.

Species Diversity

A major revision in 2012 by Bonaldo, Saturnino, Ramírez & Brescovit added 13 new from the Americas. The shows notable diversity in Mexico, where 9 of the 21 recognized species occur.
