    Louisiana eyed silkmoth

    Automeris louisiana, the Louisiana eyed silkmoth, is a species of giant silkmoth in the family Saturniidae. It is native to North America and was described by Ferguson and Brou in 1981. Like other members of the genus Automeris, adults are characterized by prominent eyespots on the hindwings used for predator deterrence. The species has been subject to a petition for listing under the U.S. Endangered Species Act, with a status review initiated in 2011.

    Hodges's Clubtail, Hodges' Clubtail

    Phanogomphus hodgesi is a clubtail dragonfly endemic to the Gulf Coast of the United States. It was transferred from genus Gomphus to Phanogomphus in 2017 when that taxon was elevated from subgenus to genus rank. The species is classified as Near Threatened by the IUCN and listed as a Species of Greatest Conservation Need in Louisiana. A major NSF-funded study (GEODE project) initiated in 2018 aims to document its ecology and evolutionary relationships.

    Virbia rubicundaria is a small moth in the family Erebidae, commonly known as the ruddy holomelina. It occurs along the southeastern United States coast from Georgia to eastern Texas. Adults are active throughout the year with multiple generations. The species is among the smallest in its genus.
