Selenocheir arcuata is a xystodesmid described by Rowland M. Shelley in 1994 from specimens collected in Northern California in 1972. The species is characterized by brown to black coloration with yellow paranota and rounded caudolateral corners on the paranota of mid-segments. It is found in the foothills northwest of the Sacramento Valley and the northern Coast Range.

Identification

Distinguished from the sympatric Harpaphe haydeniana by the shape of the paranota: S. arcuata has rounded caudolateral corners on the paranota of mid-segments, whereas H. haydeniana has acutely angled caudolateral corners.
