Taxonomic Note

There is a homonym issue with this name. Haplopus Schoenherr, 1840 (Phasmatidae) is distinct from Haplopus Schoenherr, 1840 (Curculionidae), a weevil genus. The walkingstick genus Haplopus is correctly placed in order Phasmida.

Species Diversity

Seven are recognized: H. bicuspidatus, H. brachypterus, H. intermedius, H. micropterus, H. scabricollis, H. sobrinus, and H. woodruffi. Four of these were described in 2016 by Hennemann, Conle & Perez-Gelabert.
