Aterpia approximana is a of in the Olethreutinae. Originally described as Olethreutes approximana by Heinrich in 1919, it was later transferred to the Aterpia. The species is known from limited collection records in the northeastern United States, particularly Vermont. Like other members of Olethreutinae, are likely small to -sized moths with characteristic tortricid posture at rest.
