The genus is distributed across the southeastern United States, Caribbean islands, and tropical regions of Central and South America.

Found from Texas to Louisiana and Florida in the southeastern United States; throughout the West Indies including Cuba and Puerto Rico; and from Mexico south through Central America to Bolivia, with records from Colombia and Ecuador.
