It occurs in North America, with records from Canada (Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan) and the United States (Vermont). The species was described by Grote in 1875 and belongs to the Noctuinae. As a member of the Eupsilia, it is part of a group of commonly referred to as sallows.
