Xestia bolteri is a small found in the southwestern United States, with documented records from Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado. The has a wingspan of approximately 35 mm. It has been documented through blacklight surveys in Colorado, including at the Red Rock Canyon Open Space bioblitz in 2019. The species was originally described as Noctua bolteri by Smith in 1898.
