Taxonomic History
The was established by Augustus Radcliffe Grote in 1875. Several were transferred from other genera, including Tricholita signata (originally described as Xylina signata by Walker in 1860) and Tricholita bisulca (originally Mamestra bisulca Grote, 1881). Modern revisions by Crabo & Lafontaine in 2009 added two species: T. ferrisi and T. knudsoni.
