Plinthisus brevipennis is a small in the Rhyparochromidae, commonly known as the groundbug or dirt-colored seed bug. The exhibits a transcontinental distribution spanning Africa, Europe, and Northern Asia. First described by Latreille in 1807 as Lygaeus brevipennis, it was later transferred to the Plinthisus. The species is part of a diverse genus of ground-dwelling true bugs that inhabit varied terrestrial environments.
