Limnogonus franciscanus

Limnogonus franciscanus is a of water strider in the Gerridae. It inhabits freshwater across a broad geographic range spanning the southern United States through Central America and into South America, including Caribbean islands. The species was originally described by Stål in 1859 under the name Gerris franciscanus. As a member of the water strider family, it exhibits the characteristic surface-skimming locomotion enabled by hydrophobic leg setae.
