Eaton, 1881
Choroterpes is a of mayflies in the Leptophlebiidae, distributed across the Americas, Europe (excluding the British Isles), Africa, and Asia. The genus contains multiple subgenera, including the nominate subgenus Choroterpes and Neochoroterpes (North America). Nymphs are typically found in streams and rivers, often associated with leaf litter. The genus has been subject to taxonomic revision, with some reassigned to new genera such as Tikuna.

Identification
Members of Choroterpes can be distinguished from related leptophlebiid by nymphal characters including: with emargination (U-shaped or with denticles), with clusters of setae on lateral margins, and distinctive gill . Gills I are typically single , while gills II–VII possess with plate-like median projections and smaller lamellae. Abdominal segments often bear posterolateral spines that increase in length posteriorly. Tarsal claws are apically hooked with multiple denticles.
Habitat
Nymphs inhabit streams and rivers, frequently associated with leaf litter substrates. Specific have been documented in hill streams and rivers of the Western Himalaya, the Western Ghats of India, and Andean streams in Colombia.
Distribution
Americas (including southwestern North America, Central America, Colombia, and previously recorded from Antioquia and Tolima departments), Europe (excluding British Isles), Africa, and Asia (India, including Karnataka, Jharkhand, and Western Himalayan states).
Ecological Role
Nymphs are benthic that contribute to stream function. One (Choroterpes picteti) has been studied for behavioral responses to environmental stressors such as acid mine drainage pulses.
