Gowdeyana is a of soldier flies ( Stratiomyidae, Pachygastrinae) established by Charles Howard Curran in 1928. The genus contains seven described distributed primarily in the Neotropical region. Species were described between 1915 and 1980, with several originally placed in other genera before transfer to Gowdeyana. As a member of Pachygastrinae, are likely associated with forest where larvae develop in decaying organic matter.

Taxonomic history

The was erected by Curran in 1928 with Gowdeyana mirabilis as type . Several species were transferred from other genera: Gowdeyana argentea and G. ryckmani from Pachygaster, G. punctifera from Hermetia, and G. vitrisetosa from Odontomyia. Authorship is sometimes cited as 1927 (Catalogue of Life) versus 1928 (original publication and GBIF).
