Identification

Asilinae is placed in the Myaptex group based on diagnostic characters including: wing with r2+3 and r4 not separated by a recurrent (only two submarginal cells present), vein R5 ending after wing apex, scutellum tumid with no impressed rim and bearing at least one pair of well-developed marginal scutellar macrosetae, acute claws, and abdominal tergites with lateral marginal macrosetae.
