Oodes is a of ground beetles (Carabidae) in the tribe Oodini. The genus has undergone significant taxonomic revision, with many formerly classified in Oodes now placed in three new genera: Pseudoodes, Sundaoodes, and Nothoodes. The genus currently comprises seven recognized species, with five in Oodes s.str. and two in the subgenus Lachnocrepis. Oodes species are distributed across the Palaearctic and Oriental regions.

Identification

Members of Oodes s.str. can be distinguished from related by morphological characters established through detailed character analysis. formerly grouped in the "Oodes generic group" due to morphological similarity have been separated based on genitalic and other structural features. Distribution

Palaearctic and Oriental regions. Documented from China (including Hainan, Sichuan, Hunan, Guizhou, and Guangxi provinces), Taiwan, Japan, Romania, Israel, Nepal, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Brunei, and Indonesia. GBIF records indicate presence in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Vermont (USA).

Life Cycle

Larvae have been documented for at least Oodes (Lachnocrepis) japonicus, indicating complete with distinct larval and stages. Details of developmental timing and are not established.
