Leucochrysini is a tribe of green lacewings (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae: Chrysopinae) containing seven and approximately 213 described . The genus Leucochrysa contains the majority of species (196), while the remaining six genera are species-poor, each containing 1–8 species. The tribe is distributed primarily in the Neotropical region. Five genera (Berchmansus, Cacarulla, Gonzaga, Nuvol, and Santocellus) are reasonably well characterized systematically, with known and/or larval traits.

Identification

of Santocellus are distinguished by: bold markings on forewings and body; darkly colored ; longer than forewing but less than two times forewing length; forewing with first radial crossvein at or very near origin of Rs; with segment dark, bearing elongate setae terminally, raised , and distolateral tarsal claws with single spur; slender male with gonocristae on S8+9; male genitalia with broad gonarcus bearing mesal beak and lateral lobes but lacking tignum, gonapsis, parameres, quadrate hood, pseudopenis, and spinellae; female genitalia with round spermatheca and sail-like velum with shallow invagination opening directly to bursa copulatrix. Nuvol are morphologically and geographically distinct: N. umbrosus from Atlantic Forest and N. satur from Amazonian region.
