A of small in the Yponomeutidae, established by Friese in 1960. The genus includes seven described distributed primarily in northern Europe, with some species extending into central Europe and Iran. Most species were originally described in the 19th and early 20th centuries, with two species described by Friese himself in 1960.

Northern and central Europe. Documented from Denmark (DK), Norway (NO), and Sweden (SE). Individual have wider ranges: P. lutarea occurs in the British Isles and western Europe; P. conspersella and P. lapponica extend into Fennoscandia; P. iranella and P. ornichella reach Iran.
