Ecpyrrhorrhoe is a of small crambid in the Pyraustinae, containing approximately 15 described distributed across the Palearctic, Oriental, and Afrotropical regions. The genus was revised taxonomically in 2022, which established Paliga as a junior synonym and described five new species from China. Species-level identification relies heavily on genitalic characters, particularly the structure of the uncus, juxta, and female signum. The genus includes relict species with restricted distributions, such as E. diffusalis, which occurs in isolated calcareous grassland .

Identification

-level identification requires examination of genitalic . Diagnostic apomorphic characters include: narrowly uncus with long dorsolateral arms of the juxta; spines present on the anellus in male genitalia; slender longitudinal in the ductus bursae; and second (posterior) signum with spines in female genitalia. Forewings are typically brownish-ochreous to reddish with distinct ante- and postmedial lines; wingspan of examined ranges 19–22 mm. Species groups (A, B, C clades) have been established based on phylogenetic analysis of molecular data (COI, 16S rRNA, 28S rRNA, EF-1α).
