Sonorarctia is a of in the Erebidae, established by Ferguson in 1985. The genus contains two described : S. fervida (Walker, 1855) and S. nundar (Dyar, 1907). Both species were originally described under other genera and later transferred to Sonorarctia. The genus is part of the Arctiinae , a diverse group of commonly known as tiger moths.

Taxonomic history

Both in this were originally described in other genera: S. fervida as Lithosia fervida by Walker in 1855, and S. nundar as Crambidia nundar by Dyar in 1907. Ferguson established Sonorarctia as a new genus in 1985 to accommodate these species based on shared morphological characteristics.
