Taxonomic history
Both in this were originally described in other genera: S. fervida as Lithosia fervida by Walker in 1855, and S. nundar as Crambidia nundar by Dyar in 1907. Ferguson established Sonorarctia as a new genus in 1985 to accommodate these species based on shared morphological characteristics.
