Seven are recognized: H. e. baueri (McDunnough, 1954), H. e. edenata (nominate), H. e. grandis (Barnes & McDunnough, 1917), H. e. indistincta (McDunnough, 1952), H. e. olivata (Wright, 1916), H. e. pallidata (Wright, 1916), and H. e. prasinata (McDunnough, 1954). Subspecies differ in coloration and size, with grandis being notably larger than the nominate form.
